F.A.Q.’s

If your questions have not been answered while visiting our site, perhaps you might find the answers you seek below. If not, contact us we are always happy to help.

GENERAL

Our gym is a small group training center, we offer group classes for adults and teens, personal training and independent programs. We are not a “globo” gym.

At our facility you will find that everyone wants to get to know you and help you get better. We strive to give you that personal touch in every session. At our Box we cap our classes at 14 people to ensure we have enough equipment; and the space you need to get through a great workout.

Our Program is geared to the general population, but all of our workouts can be scaled up or down depending to suit an individuals needs.

What CrossFit offers is not your typical gym experience. While our rates are comparable to any group fitness classes, the results you’ll achieve are unparalleled.  You are paying for a one hour full body workout, a coach to show you what to do, and an atmosphere that will keep you motivated!

Your typical gym experience relies on you knowing what exercises to do, and for you to have the self-discipline and motivation to do it on your own. Very little guidance accompanies the standard gym membership, which usually results in boredom, injury and lackluster results.

Yes, we offer Personal Training.

CrossFit teaches 9 Foundation Movements. The mastery of these 9 movements correlate directly to the efficiency of the exercises performed during your workouts and transfer to the development of other skills you see often in WODs.

They are: Air Squat Front Squat Overhead Squat Shoulder Press Push Press Push Jerk Deadlift Sumo Deadlift High Pull Medicine Ball Clean All of these movements are covered in our On Ramp program to guarantee your comfort in executing them properly and effectively.

Other movements/exercises include: Pull Ups, Push Ups, Sit Ups, Jump Rope, Box Jumps, Running/Sprinting, Rowing, Gymnastic Ring Work, Dumbbell Work, Kettlebell Swings, Wall Balls, Static Holds, and various others While this list may seem foreign or intimidating, please note that every one of them is modifiable and scaleable to meet your skill level and needs.

Well, CrossFit is designed to be hard for everybody, but know that you are not an exception. One of the great things about CrossFit is that every workout can be scaled or modified to suit any fitness level or injury. What that means is that whether you are new or a veteran CrossFitter, you can do the same workout, but the workout is scaled according to each athlete’s fitness level. We teach our members how to scale and modify workouts in all of our workouts, and our coaches always provide modifications. You do not need to be in shape or fit to start working out with us at CrossFit 718.

We’ve all been there…the ‘new kid’ in class! Everyone is always open and friendly to new-comers. We promote a family-like atmosphere of support and camaraderie amongst our members. Someone will undoubtedly take you under their wing and help you through your introductory period. Everyone remembers what it was like at their first class and we all want to see each other succeed. Most importantly, we won’t ever have you do something that you are uncomfortable with or that is too advanced for your current fitness level.

No. The beauty of CrossFit is that all exercises are based on movements that you already do–like squatting, pushing and pulling.

Exercises are scaled to inspire the beginner and challenge the most elite athlete.

No. Really. There is a common misconception that CrossFit is for elite athletes. The truth is that it is for everyone. Sure, we say that we are “forging elite fitness” and we are. This means that you start the journey where you are today. And, if you stay on our path it’s likely that you will get in to the best physical, emotional and psychical shape of your life.

Our community is comprised of competitive athletes, former athletes, working professionals, people that had never stepped foot into a gym and people with physical ailments. Allow us to get you into the best shape of your life.

The WOD stands for “Workout of the Day.”

Our CrossFit WOD is what we consider our regular program/ classes.

Wear comfortable clothing that will not restrict your movement. We recommend a flat sneaker that doesn’t have soft wedges or big bubbles.

Dress appropriately for the weather; we run outdoors. Layers are good.

Wear long socks or long pants if a workout calls for rope climbs.

We always have a warm up session before the Workout of the Day. If you find yourself with a little extra time before or after class, feel free to start warming up on your own, practice skills, or just socialize. All we ask is that you come in ready to do some work!

You will feel successful and part of a community of athletes, many of whom you did NOT expect to be CrossFitters. You’ll have a better understanding of how classes are run and the method behind what we do. And it’s likely you will have learned new things, be a little bit “sore” and excited to come back for more.

Not to worry,

You can do The Basics 1 on 1.  Schedule sessions at your convenience.

For $350 = 4 Basics sessions + 8 regular classes.

Email us to get on the schedule right away.

If you have experience cycling a barbell with good form; Yes! Skip the Basics.

If not, we suggest getting into that Basics Course. It’s important, and it doesn’t hurt. Taking the basics course is a great way to ease into our WOD program.
