Coach Dan… Have you ever seen the film Forks over Knives before? I’m not asking to be a trouble maker, I’m honestly concerned and want your feedback. This diet seems feesible for myself minus the grains bc of having Celiac… But as far as Sensei I don’t think this would be good for him… But since Paleo (which he has adapted since Crossfit and I believe it works well for him) requires so much meat, animal by pntake is this the right route? After watching this film (if you haven’t, please watch it) it makes me feel uneasy about serving Sensei so much meat throughout the week (always grass fed or organic). I hope that I’m helping him and not hurting him. Especially since the film highlights how people can have perfect health but then have spontaneous heart attacks, cancer etc. Claiming it to the meat consumption (all meat grass fed or not) Anyway, I would appreciate your thoughts since you are passionate about this area. Coach Iz I would also appreciate your thoughts and wisdom if you can since you led the vegan lifestyle for some time, and obviously converted to Paleo to what I would imagine for the best reasons. Thanks gentlemen!
I have not seen it, but if you can give me a brief synopsis I would appreciate it. Random things will happen regardless, so these “spontaneous heart attacks” cannot be attributed directly to anything. It comes down to science. There isn’t a mechanism there for that. I would ask why they’re claiming it to meat consumption. I recommend reading “the vegetarian myth”, as it addresses a lot of issues that vegans and vegetarians have about their diet. Again, it comes down to science. If you’re eating a certain way and you’re getting healthier and fitter, then why would a spontaneous heart attack be attributed to this?
I’ll try and watch the movie soon, although my schedule is hectic for the next few weeks. I would just ask what scientific reasoning they give for these things, and what the specific mechanisms are.
I mean, we’ve been eating this way for 2.5 million years. We’ve evolved BECAUSE of our meat diet, not in spite of it. Since switching toa grain-based diet, our brains are actually shrinking for the first time in our evolutionary history. Can this be a good thing? I doubt it.
What it comes down to is YOU need to eat the way YOU need to eat. No one can TELL you how to eat. Do I think a vegan diet is healthy? Not in any way. It’s lacking nutrients on it’s face, so supplementation is NECESSARY. Not healthy. Where does your protein come from on a veggie diet? I’m a broken record, but look at the science. Biology. So ultimately, do what you want. Were just here to guide and help with the best that WE’VE learned. After that, it’s up to you to make your own decisions! I like discussions like this. It’s important to ask these questions. Dialogue is VERY important. Glad you brought this up.

Thanks!!!
It’s not a typical vegan or vegetarian diet that they are representing in the film. It’s a whole foods plant based diet. Like Paleo, they do not promote: corn. wheat, soy, or dairy. Their food pyramid is based on fruits and veggies (non starchy), then legumes, nuts amd seeds (source of protein), then healthy fats (similar to paleo avocado, coconut, blah blah blah), and at the tippy tippy top is starchy veggies and psuedo grains (buckwheat, aramanth, millet, quinoa.. You know). According to this film they claim to base this on scientific research since the mid 1900’s. These doctors state that even though man has been exposed to meat since the beginning that it doesn’t reflect the majority who were unable to include meat on a daily basis. Again I’m not a sponser I’m just summarizing. They also revert to Japan being the healthiest country and align it to their mostly whole food plant based diet. They also brought up that the united states of science and the USDA boards are owners of many meat industies and do not allow or disclose the findings of scientists that support whole food plant based diets to cite their research. They showed how consumption of meat can trigger cancer cells to turn on and off as well as degenerative diseases. It’s an interesting film with lots of science but I too feel it should be based on ones own body. It’s just a bit creepy of the stats and research they found. Especially in regards to healthy ppl that in time were stricken with heart issues, cholesterol, etc. Anyway, I’m not asking on behalf my own health.. I’m asking on behalf of Sensei bc I don’t want to “think” I’m cooking him healthy meals but in fact harming him. So when you can watch the movie and get back to me… I’m patient, so whenever… Much appreciated
Nevermind, I’m

Good fun today. Took advantage of the warm day and opened the garage doors to work on some pull overs. Messed around with these and worked on a few shoulder presses annd faced off against coach dan on the 4 rounds of power snatches and ghds. Bastard beat me by two reps. (4 seconds). I got 2:32. Bounced each snatch off my quads to slow their descent rather than have them fall directly to the ground. This was enough for dan to beat me. Bastard (;
And jumped into the nooner -> 34, 34, 35, 38. For the sprints
Ohs 95/135/155. Feeling fatigued and looking forward to the games. Jusst didn’t push hard on these.
