Beat the Streets
Throwdown – Round 2!
By: Jenessa Connor
Last summer’s block party was pretty legendary, but we’re determined to go bigger and better (this is CrossFit, after all) with the second annual Beat the Streets Throwdown on July 30, 2016! We’re partnering with some great local sponsors, including Kettlebell Kitchen, Caffeine and Kilos, Leathernecks Tattoo, and Park Slope Day Camp. All proceeds are going to the Kings County Kids Club, a non-profit CrossFit program that brings fun and fitness to all kids, regardless of their ability to pay.
Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or a CrossFit newbie, the throwdown is the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself and see where you stand among local CrossFit athletes. It’s a team event, which makes the day even more fun and social. We’re programming both scaled and Rx WODs, so everyone can participate. And don’t forget home turf advantage – you’re guaranteed an enthusiastic cheering section!
But the throwdown is more than a competition; it’s a community event. We want every participant to have a great day and a seamless competition experience, and we need reliable volunteers to make that happen. If you’d rather be on the event team instead of a competition team, we have a job for you. We need judges, score keepers, registration/merch sales managers, social media managers, photographers/videographers, and set-up/break-down crew members. This event only works with the support of the 718 community. Get involved!
Our goal is to raise $2,000 for the Kings County Kids Club. It’s ambitious, but we know we can do it if we work together. So register a team, and get your friends from other area boxes to do the same. Sign up to volunteer. And if you can’t make it to the event, you can still support the cause with a donation.
Who’s ready to have fun, raise money, and make memories?
