I remember a work out that had a ridiculous amount of burpees in it. I had finished, but the person next to me was still struggling. She was standing above each burpee with a look of apprehension and fear. The anxiety about the work that she had to do was becoming more taxing than doing the actual work. Most of us have been in this situation before.
I told her that she knew she was going to finish the work out (no one would let her not). She would succeed. She knew what she had to do, and how to do it (the beauty of a workout – but not always carried over in life). I told her to get down to the floor; to not stand above the work she had to do, but get right into it.
She smiled. And said, “you’re right. I am going to finish. I just need to do the work.”
It kinda clicked for her. She settled down. Her anxiety level dropped. She simply focused on what she had to do, and did it the best she could. Those last ten or so burpees were the fastest and best burpees she did all day.
In any case, was just thinking about that today. Or in other words, “suck it up, buttercup!”
Nice story Kurt. I felt the same way this morning about this WOD… Since I haven’t WOD’ed in a long time I anticipated a poorly executed one today. But Sensei was the person to calm me down and Coach Tammyli kept me focused and positive. I’d be lost without them… Or puking… Anyhow
Air Squat Tabata: 141 Sorry Coach Iz, I couldn’t get 20 in one set… I now hate the number 19
5 rounds of 2 rope climbs, 4 HSPU *mod pike on box, 6 pull ups * first round red then pushed back to blue and elbows were still bendy.. No rep! Wah, wah, wah! 8 kb swings @ 12k (shouldve tried 16k, pysched myself that I would fail, not good!, 10 sit ups, 12 burpees. Thank you soooooooo much Coach Tammyli for being there for me, I apologize for my set backs in my performance… Thank God for you sharing the strategy with us today… I definately would have upchucked otherwise. Great job today Sensei, you unbroken machine!

I decided to cut this wod in half, with the exception of rope climb and burpees. I threw the burpees in throughout the exercises (because I highly dislike them!!). I thought it would be best for me, and it ended up working out very well!
10 rope climb – 4 / 3 /3 – I can’t climb that rope! I did modified pull up and then down on the rope.
20 HSPU – 10 / 10 – Pike on 18inch box
30 Pull Ups – 15 / 15 – Blue band first round. I had to go with the green band on the second round.
40 KB Swings – 20 / 20 – 12K
50 sit ups – 25 / 25
60 burpees – 15 / 15 / 7 / 14 / 9
400 Meter run

Beast workout. 148 on the Tabata Air Squats. I can do this perfect 20, but left it alone for today.
17:56 on the WOD, tall box piked HSPU – Need to get those straightened out.
400M run at 1:26, a solid 12 seconds longer than my PR, but my legs were on someone else’s body.
Nice class, great to see everyone.
Tabata nice and steady shooting for 18 a round next time will do the 20 … Total =146
Wod: I enjoyed the rope climbs I don’t do them enough.
