We want to get the team together to say goodbye to our new friend Esteban. He has been WODing with us for over 3 months now and he is going back to Spain next Month. Let’s meet at Melody Lanes for a fun night of Bowling… 1/28/12 @ 8pm. Post & Let us know who can make it. If we can get 20 people we get a huge discount rate for the whole night!!

If you have a 20lb vest or body armor wear it.
I will bring quiche. Is that cool?
I was going to bring mini quiches with sausage. If Gillie is bringing quiche, I’ll bring bacon wrapped dates!
Melissa, If you wanna bring mini quiches, I can bring a nice big salad. Lemme know! 🙂
i don’t really eat these things, but my mom makes them and they’re very delicious, i figured everyone would like them – coconut almond pancakes with blueberry sauce. totally wheat free, they’re made with coconut and almond flour, coconut crystals (for sweetness), etc.
Linds bring something you will actually eat! 😉 those sound yummy though

Also, there is a whiskey tasting party at my house (32nd and fifth) the night of Esteban’s going away party. While the whiskey will likely be exhausted by 11 or so, you are all welcome to come over and hang post-Mary’s should you choose! 29:32 minus the weight vest – didn’t even think about the vest, but it certainly would have added a real fun dynamic. (AND MINUS THE XTRA 2 MILES OF RUNNING)
Legs were pretty shot. Yesterday I had done 10 rounds of 15 deadlifts @ 135# and 15 push ups. Felt those deadlifts in the cleans, but very happy with my time.
Planning on going to the paleo pot luck, but not sure what to bring. I am not in front of my cookbook. Try to post later about that.

Thank you Iz for letting us have the option of staying with 1 mile. This was no joke, I felt the exact same way today as that picture!

WOW – one of the tougher WOD’s I have ever participated in. I love these long painful workouts – feel so accomplished at the end. Sorry to those who suffered through the extra two miles of running because of my big mouth – but that is the WOD and you survived!!

And I have to say, Tom watching you grind through this WOD with the 20# vest was inspirational. Seeing things like that always makes me want to push more and work harder. I am glad we have an athlete like you at 718 to shoot for. It was awesome – great job!
After I finished I was a little confused, because I thought the elite times were in the 40s (and not sub 30). Great job pushing through in the cold!
today was a good day to freeze your exremeties off.. Nice work to anyone who finished this today. Good Job. I ran around the park twice today and had Ice on my hat. I love it. Is anyone doing the half marathon next weekend? If you want to car pool Slootsky and I will be heading into the city for the race.
Thanks buddy it’s been tough coming back from the month layoff but we are getting there. Grueling WOD today in the cold. Everyone who tackled it should be proud of their performance. A big thank you to Steve for taking that darn vest off of me after the wod and to Coach Iz for tracking everyone’s times. The last thing I wanted to think about was the clock.

Modified Hidalgo: 2 mile run, 20 20 in box jumps (thanks Melissa for sharing your box with me) 20 55 lb cleans (did first 4 with 65lbs… Which is 5 pounds less then my max… Realized too heavy and scaled down to 55… Wasted serious time but I would have finished tomorrow if Sensei and lil Iz didn’t help me… Thank you . 20 25lb walking lunges, 20 20 in box jumps, 20 55lb cleans and 2 mile run. I don’t know time but thank you Coach Iz for keeping me focused. So many athletes running around and you are there for all of us, I don’t know how you do it, but thank God you can and always do…

Didn’t think I could do that much running in the cold. This WOD proved that I can! I love that about CF. Always suprised by the abilities we all have.
Cory and I will attending Esteban’s party. I like the idea of bowling. I have been wanting to try Melody Lanes since it is so close but haven’t had the chance yet. Sounds like a fun time. Great suggestion Tam.
Today was my training day for next weekends half marathon. Ran 60 minutes as hard as I could. No idea how far I went.
The highlight of the day was watching a girl I have known most of my life who is a cop in nj chase down a guy who had just flipped a stolen car. He started to choke her and she beat the piss out of him. Guy was bigger than me and she’s about 5 feet tall. She crushed him. I got out of my car to help her but before I even got close she had him down and was just pummeling him. Very inspiring.
I’ll be at esteban’s thing late, but probably not paleo pot luck.

I wish I could have sped up on the last mile but I really need to get better at cold weather running! My lungs werent having it. But other than that I was happy with my ROM and did all but the cleans unbroken.
Since I felt like a slacker I went out and stood post at the gas station and yelled/ ran with everyone. All of you guys refusing to stop and pushing through the fatigue and tired legs really inspired me. I love CF!
Next time I’m not being a baby and running the full 2 mi.
