400M Farmers Walk Rx’d: 7:12 I think I found my achiles heel. I struggled big time with this. Probably stopped 10 times. My grip strength sucks and I basically don’t have any forearm muscles. haha
Inspiring stuff Jess! You’re right CrossFit makes you strong, and exposes weakness too. But it also shows your strengths. I, for example am like the Rain Man of L sits…who woulda thunk it! 🙂

Today did a modified wod inspired by Tom’s from yesterday. My roommate took his heavy dumbbells so I couldn’t do the PP. The burpee and situp couplet looked fun, but too easy without the other exercises… so I modified it.
Instead I did manmakers! (minus the second push up)

manmakers with 10# DBs (all I had)
weighted sit ups with 10# DB (anchored)

WODed at Flower City CrossFit today, and had a blast doing it. Lots of great people up here!
We did a tabata of sorts, only we took four different movements (wallball 20#, KB swing 53#, ball slams, 20#, box jumps, I did 30″) and did them for two rounds each tabata. So:
20 sec wallball
10 sec rest
20 sec wallball
10 sec rest
20 sec KB swing
10 sec rest
20 sec KB swing
10 sec rest
20 sec ball slam
10 sec rest
20 sec ball slam
10 sec rest
20 sec box jump
10 sec rest
20 sec box jump
10 sec rest
then 1 min rest, then the whole tabata again, three more times, resting 60 secs between each tabata. Intense! I did pretty good, I got 299 total reps. The only guy that beat me went RX’d, which was only a 24″ box, and only got 306, so I didn’t do too bad, considering I went higher on the box! 🙂 Anyway, WODing again tomorrow morning, so I should get to sleep. REPPING 718, BABY!!!

Update: I’m pretty sure that I have a pinched nerve that occurred during overhead squats, likely from:
1) inflamed sore muscles (from previous workouts)
2) poor form (not keeping my chest up!)
3) too much weight / not enough mobility or strength
Massage, ice, and anti-inflammatories are the prescription for improvement.
Does this jive with any of the coaches’ understanding?
