Now I get it, and I’m not contesting the call. It was not a valid rep. But still, the guy put it all out there in a last ditch attempt to qualify and was winning the heat and the overall. And what he did was AFTER he had completed the ascent and touched the crossbar.
Rough to miss a spot because of that.

I feel bad, but that is the nature of the sport. What should they have done not sent Gary Helmick, or sent them sent them both?
Do you play poker? Did you ever throw down a winning hand face down by mistake? It is considered an automatic muck and you lose the pot even if you technically won, and everybody sees that you won. You mess up you lose…
Fair point Jack. It was an intense moment for sure. I’m just sad to see a guy who was running away with it get cut on a single rep. But such is the game.
