Wow- I can’t believe tomorrow is the last day at 5th ave. I’ve been a member of this box officially since Feb 2012 and have spent WAY TOO MUCH time here as I’m sure most people have seen, so when I walked in today and saw the place pretty barren it made me think about my time here and how I have seen the box grow in so my ways- and I guess moving is just another piece of growing for 718!
I hope everyone can come and WOD on Saturday Aug 2nd or at least stop in and Congratulate Tammy and Iz on their next journey…which we are all lucky enough to be part of.
Thank you guys for coming to the BooM WOD. It was fun going out with a Bang.
Here’s to our future.
Totally agree with Tina. There are still spots left to wod on Saturday so please register and if your not woding please come anyway and hang out. It’s going to be lots of fun.
Well said T,
I haven’t been here as long as some of you but I definitely had some great memories and PR’s at 5th Ave. Seeing the box stripped to the minimum definitely hit me when I walked in. It was a reality check I was not ready for. But like all good things it must come to an end. On to the next chapter in the CF 718 book. I wish Tammy & Iz all the best at our new home.
Muscle Up, Brooklyn!
Psyched for the new space. Katie and I will be around on Saturday.
boom conjugate:
A: WU – 3RFT of 10 situps / 10 good mornings
B: 8×1 squat clean + front squat @ 70% of clean. worked at 95#, felt very light.
C: 8×1 sumo DL @ 70%. worked at 215.
D: grace with full squat cleans and and 5 lateral bar burpees every 2 mins. worked at 100#. 11:22.
Bye, neighbors! Sorry I dropped every single rep today! ::vanish::
This would have been a sadder day for me if I hadn’t gotten to see the new space yesterday. For anyone who hasn’t been over there yet, it was overwhelming just to walk into the new box. You won’t be disappointed.
Also it was seriously satisfying to drop a 150lbs stone with impunity today.
A) 100 ball slam : 2:55
B) Stone to Shoulder : 150lbs
Tabata S2S : 24 @ 95
C) 10rft – 15 DL @ 135 / Push Up : 13:39
Satisfied to leave the old box with this workout. Looking forward to smashing these numbers at the new one.
Kettlebell kitchen is live. You can choose 718 as delivery location. I will be putting my order in ASAP.
Ok I have to say this –
I love you guys. I seriously do BUT at the new spot, “No Rep Police” will be in full effect. I’m not sure why but for some reason or another no one (or most of you at least) DO NOT touch your chest to the deck when doing push ups and then claim they went Rx.
STOP CHEATING YOURSELF!
That’s like saying you did 135# for todays WOD but actually did 120#. Almost doesn’t count. If you break parallel when doing a squat or have your chin completely over the bar when doing pull ups then why not touch your chest to the floor when doing push ups?
You may think I’m being a jerk but half assing reps and claiming other wise is cheating plain and simple. Also bad reps can lead to injury. We have standards to measure accurately and for safety.
So guys please show the coaches that you are paying attention and do the moves correctly. If you don’t, don’t claim Rx. There’s no shame in scaling.
Well I hear you Coach, standards are standards and we always go over range of motion and move the standards in the box. But tone it down, everyone is doing the best they can, and they shouldn’t have to feel bad about it. Some of us are here just to get in a workout and have a good time.
I didnt hear anyone screaming out RXed after class.
1, 2, 3 BOOM! Fun class tonight at 7! Packed class to BOOM out with!
To 26th and 3rd!
No prob. I’ll keep quiet.
